What I love about being an Airman's wife

Today, is Military Spouse Appreciation Day! I have the honor of participating in the Wifes of Faith Military spouse blog carnival. Today is Day 1...Join me!

What I love about being an Airman's wife?....suprisingly this was the exact question that I was asked this week at our enlisted spouses meeting. My answer then was short, and I said what I could think of off the top of my head and I wished I could've thought more about it because there is just so much that I do love about it! So, here we go...

11 for 2011!...

....I love that he picked me! He could have gotten tired of our 1600 mile separation while we were dating and engaged, but he was sure that no matter what he wanted me as his wife...kinda makes a girl feel good :-).

....I love him in his uniform! When we got married he was a flyer, and wore his flight suit. My favorite part of that uniform was the flight cap. Now, he wears ABU's and I love all of this one!

....I love the commissary! I like coupons, and the commissary has a little spot up front where there are current coupons that you can pick up...thank you DECA!

....I love little kids in camo. Pink, green, blue, doesn't matter the color. I have two boys who can sport camo with the best because WE SUPPORT DADDY!

....I love being part of something bigger than myself! We all are, every base, in every country and city all over the world is designed to work together towards the goals set for our men and women serving, and we support them so they can do their job.

....I love the services offered on base! From the classes we got to take when we were expecting our first son, to the enlisted spouses organization that I have just started going to. My all time favorite was the Heartlink class...New spouses make sure you take one day and take it, you will be thankful you did!

....I love hearing Revalry, and Retreat! I never felt so much pride when hearing those tunes as I do now that I'm a military wife. What is even better is how everyone stops driving, and stops to salute. That is what the military is about!

....I love national holidays now, my husband is home for every one because the military members are off for the day, unless he's not here. I never knew I could look foreward to veterans day too :-)

....I love it when people show my husband their appreciation, for him serving our country. We have had people walk up to us at restaurants and hand us money to cover our bill, and say "thank you", I admit I didn't know what to say.

....I love that I now cry every time I hear the national anthem played, maybe not at that moment because usually it's in public, but the pride you feel is something that you just don't forget.

....I love military spouses day! Sometimes we feel that we are lost in the commotion of our lifestyle. And, that sometimes the real camoflodge is being in civis instead of ABU's. So, from one military wife to all of you...THANK YOU!

This is just the current list of why I love being an airman's wife. I find something every now and then that makes me fall in love all over again, usually when I need to be reminded the most. Can you imagine how long the list will be when I've been married for 20 years instead of 2 1/2? Maybe I could write a book then!

  1. You know, it constantly surprises me when people come up and thank my husband. It doesn't happen to often around military bases, but when we go home to visit our families. It just floors me and my heart swells with pride. What an awesome moment for my husband!
