Full

Recently our life has been FULL....full of little annoyances, and fun times too...full of people...full of kids...full of learning and teaching...and full of confusion.

Now, full is not bad, It's just a different way of being. We went from it being just the 4 of us, to sometimes having a full house. We have found out who care for us as a result. And that is an answer to a prayer of nearly 3 years!

My husband and I have also learned that our teamwork really does make us unique. We are not perfect, but we are a match and absolutely meant to be. His strength takes up where my own gives out and I do the same for him. We have found out that we are strong together...what a gift it is to know that he completes me!

Our Full life, recently, has brought some challenging times. We each have had our moments of feeling like we couldn't do what we hoped, but we grown together much more, and discovered that we can. Challenges shouldn't be scary, I've discovered they make for the most rewarding of adventures.

So, here's to every glass being half-full....because empty is just that, empty, and I don't look at our journey that way. We won't get rich off of it, but some rewards are greater!

They Found Me!

Children are BLOODHOUNDS! I go to the bathroom, my bedroom, their room...any room where they are not, and within about 60 seconds I hear them running to the place where I am. They never seem to hesitate, it's as if they somehow know exactly where I am!

I swear that the minute that baby implants in your uterus that there must be a tracking device that comes with it....for them to find you, not the other way around of course! And heaven forbid if you shut the bathroom door so that you don't have an audience! That bathroom is a black hole, to a toddler, and they think it will suck you into the next universe, never to be found again.

I guess I should be flattered that they care so much about me, but I'm not used to it yet. The bringing me toys to "play" with while I'm in the bathroom will take some getting used to. But by the time I get used to it they will probably be over this phase in their lives, and I will wish that they would go back to it.

If only this worked both ways, and it was so easy for us to fine THEM sometimes :-).

All About Me

Day 3, WHOOPIE! Of the Wives of Faith Blog Carnival. The third, and final, but I am looking foreward to doing this again next year! Today they asked us to write, "11 amazing facts about yourself", so here I go....

....I am an Identical twin, I guess this classifies as amazing since my mom didn't find out that she had 2 coming and not just 1 until she was 7 months pregnant with us.

....I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cloth diapers! I'm no "hippie" by any means, and no I didn't do it to go green. I did it because I want to do things the old-fashioned way. It wasn't broken in my mom's time....and I didn't want to "fix" it. Bonus: we found out our oldest has reactions to the fragrance in disposbales anyway!

....I am a blonde with hazel eyes, and black eyebrows and lashes! Most people have the "blonde hair and blues eyes" stuck in their brains, and never stop to actually look and see if that's what I have. It makes me laugh.

....I have a thing for making yeast breads. I make our bread at home, and my husband LOVES it!

....I make our laundry detergent, again this is because our oldest is allergic to detergent. He even reacts to free and clear kinds! We have kept him diaper rash free since we figured this out, YEAH!

....My husband is the best support I have! When I tell him my kooky ideas, like cloth diapers or making detergent, he smiles and says, "go for it luv"...ya, I know he's kinda awesome!

....My husband got to deliver both of our boys. In the hospital...don't worry :-). And I know this has a lot to do with him, but I think it counts because I was pushing, while he was waiting to catch them, right? How many men can say they got this opportunity twice, or that they even want to do that? We tend to see men go a little "green" when he tells them.

....I am passionate about my marriage! If you read my blog, you will see that I talk about it a lot. It's not perfect, but its OURS! In the short time that I have been a wife, I have seen a lot of marriages start and stop. It breaks my heart that 50 years of marriage is such a rarity, my prayer is that this will become the "norm" in my lifetime.

....I love kids! Yes, I have two of my own...but I have many more that I consider mine in some way.

....I love to cook, but I REALLY don't like to do dishes! Strange, huh? My husband and I double team this because he knows how much I dislike it. He washes, or loads the dishwasher, and I put away. See, why I love this man?

....I am proud to be a military wife! I know this may seem rather ordinary, but I have met military wives who are not, so I feel that it's important to include it in my list.

I know you wanted amazing facts, and I guess I gave you what I believe makes me "special" because I don't really consider myself amazing....I'm just me! Someone who speaks her mind, sometimes too often...who loves her 3 handsome men, and wants to be the wife God intended her to be!

What I want to do

Day 2, Day 2 of the Wives of Faith blog carnial...halfway through, but I believe the best is yet to come!

Today We were asked what 11 things we would like to do or see where we live right now. Boy, am I going to be busy to get all these done...whew!

....I want to take our boys to the Oklahoma City Memorial before we PCS. I think it's important for them to understand that sometimes we reflect on the bad to see the good.

....My husband wants to go to Eskimo Joe's in Stillwater, OK. We've been talking about it for a couple years now, but every time we think of doing it something else takes up the time slot.

....I have heard about the airshow on base here, but of course, the last time they did one was the 4th of July before we got married. I hope they bring it back this year, since we can't do fireworks in our county either.

....I want to take my husband south to San Antonio, TX so he can have his "4 horseman" burger...see reruns of Man Vs. Food to understand what I'm referring to :-).

....I would like to go fishing with my husband and his pastor friend, on this boat that I have heard about them fishing on for the last 4 years but have never seen or been on myself...yes, I would think this was weird too, but I have been pregnant the last 2 summers and I knew there were no bathrooms on the boat.

....I would like to take my husband to another concert. We went to the Brooks and Dunn "last rodeo" concert, my husband's first one. Now, I just need another one that he likes to roll through town.

....I would like to walk around in the church I have seen downtown that has a plaque on it that says "the first church built in....". I have a thing for historical churchs.

....We would like to participate in a fun-run together. Currently working on that, and he wants to work up from there to the NYC marathon.

....This is tornado alley, but I have never actually seen a tornado on the ground. I may regret this, but I would like to see a tornado formed and on the ground, but be far enough away that nobody is hurt and property isn't damaged.

....I would like to go to a Renaissance festival here, but haven't found one to go to yet.

....I would like to have my sister come down here and see our house, and oklahoma in general, we can be tourists together. We need a visit!

What I love about being an Airman's wife

Today, is Military Spouse Appreciation Day! I have the honor of participating in the Wifes of Faith Military spouse blog carnival. Today is Day 1...Join me!

What I love about being an Airman's wife?....suprisingly this was the exact question that I was asked this week at our enlisted spouses meeting. My answer then was short, and I said what I could think of off the top of my head and I wished I could've thought more about it because there is just so much that I do love about it! So, here we go...

11 for 2011!...

....I love that he picked me! He could have gotten tired of our 1600 mile separation while we were dating and engaged, but he was sure that no matter what he wanted me as his wife...kinda makes a girl feel good :-).

....I love him in his uniform! When we got married he was a flyer, and wore his flight suit. My favorite part of that uniform was the flight cap. Now, he wears ABU's and I love all of this one!

....I love the commissary! I like coupons, and the commissary has a little spot up front where there are current coupons that you can pick up...thank you DECA!

....I love little kids in camo. Pink, green, blue, doesn't matter the color. I have two boys who can sport camo with the best because WE SUPPORT DADDY!

....I love being part of something bigger than myself! We all are, every base, in every country and city all over the world is designed to work together towards the goals set for our men and women serving, and we support them so they can do their job.

....I love the services offered on base! From the classes we got to take when we were expecting our first son, to the enlisted spouses organization that I have just started going to. My all time favorite was the Heartlink class...New spouses make sure you take one day and take it, you will be thankful you did!

....I love hearing Revalry, and Retreat! I never felt so much pride when hearing those tunes as I do now that I'm a military wife. What is even better is how everyone stops driving, and stops to salute. That is what the military is about!

....I love national holidays now, my husband is home for every one because the military members are off for the day, unless he's not here. I never knew I could look foreward to veterans day too :-)

....I love it when people show my husband their appreciation, for him serving our country. We have had people walk up to us at restaurants and hand us money to cover our bill, and say "thank you", I admit I didn't know what to say.

....I love that I now cry every time I hear the national anthem played, maybe not at that moment because usually it's in public, but the pride you feel is something that you just don't forget.

....I love military spouses day! Sometimes we feel that we are lost in the commotion of our lifestyle. And, that sometimes the real camoflodge is being in civis instead of ABU's. So, from one military wife to all of you...THANK YOU!

This is just the current list of why I love being an airman's wife. I find something every now and then that makes me fall in love all over again, usually when I need to be reminded the most. Can you imagine how long the list will be when I've been married for 20 years instead of 2 1/2? Maybe I could write a book then!

I Need Back-up

Growing up my parents were a team. There was no playing one off the other...believe me, I tried that a grand total of ONE time...outcome was not favorable. This encompassed all their decisions too, but it was the usual phrase from dad,"go ask ma", that had the 5 of us just automatically asking mom first.

When people outside of our family group, such as other adult family or just adults in general, asked us to do things the expectation of obedience was no different, and they backed them up to!

My husband and I have adopted this teamwork, along with the belief that our children need to learn to respect all the authority figures on their lives. We know we won't always agree with these people, but we try to stick with the plan as long as it won't harm them in some way. It's not easy to watch other people parent your kids, but sometimes its the only way to teach them to respect their future authority figures.

Through the eyes of a child...

Two days ago, 3000 Americans who never knew they would be the target of terrorism on our own soil were avenged. The man who claimed responsibility for this is now dead.

My husband, and other military members feel a huge sense of accomplishment, because as they are taught in basic training, when one fails or succeeds, they ALL DO. I know this is the main reason he's so happy that this man is gone, and fortunately he hasn't gone overboard with it. I too am glad, but only because this man will receive another type of justice, from a God he never believed in.

I heard a man on the radio yesterday saying that he was going to have to explain to his 8 year old son why everyone is so happy about someone dying, when he's been taught that death is a sad event. How interesting that a child should remind us that a HUMAN died?

This human may have felt led to hurt and kill thousands, but when you think that people are literally using his death as a platform for partying, it is very indicative of our state of being. He may not have valued life, but recent events have proven that some of us may not either.

Life is valuable, and vengeance can eat away at your soul. Just look at this child, so confused by the reaction of those he looks up to. What if we looked at life through a child's eyes, would we be ashamed of ourselves? Would we change how we react? I would like to think so.

Am I exempt from a little piece of this pride we all feel, of course not! But I have made sure that I remember that this person couldn't have acted with Christian charity, if he wasn't one....you won't ever act better, if you weren't taught better. So, let's teach our kids and ourselves to be better, kinder, more compassionate people!
